I don’t manage to get out on my mountain bike as much as I would like and oppertunities to ride anything other then local trails are even rarer, so when I had a child free day on the same day that some friends were heading to the Quantocks I was there!
I entered a random competition that popped on my Facebook feed a few weeks ago to go to a free coaching day by Specialized Bikes with Katy Curd and Helen Gaskell. And I was lucky enough to be picked! Although I have ridden mountain bikes for over 10 years, I’ve never actually had any coaching before and I hardly ever ride with other women so I was really excited (and a little nervous) about the day.
We traveled up to the west coast of Scotland and stayed just outside of Fort William for the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. After enjoying a couple of days exploring the Fort William area it was Sunday – race day!
The Verderers Trail at the Forest of Dean is graded a blue (like with pistes, trails are graded green through to black) and it is a perfect introduction to mountain biking or just brilliant fun for the more experienced rider to blast around.
Going wide – my review of the new Race Face Turbine Riser handlebars and Truvative stem set up on my Orange 5. Would it make a difference to my riding?
