Salomon Icon LT Pro Women’s Helmet Review

I have always found finding a comfortable snowboard helmet tricky. Will the Salomon Icon LT Pro be my perfect fit?

I have previously owned Anon helmets, but have never found them a perfect fit. My head measures somewhere between a small and a medium. So a small is…too small and a medium has to be on the smallest setting to fit. Not ideal from a comfort point of view. Also, the quality of the last Anon helmet I purchased was poor, making me think it was to try a new brand.

The Salomon Icon LT Pro is a low-profile, lightweight sporty helmet with great adjustment. Weighing just 400g, you really will forget you are wearing it! Unlike with other helmets where I have found customising the adjustment difficult, the integrated custom dial, makes finding the perfect fit really simple. The ear pads fit snugly and the liner can be removed and washed.

Active ventilation means on warmer days you can open the vents – no one wants a hot head! Airflow channels also mean an even temperature and a constant airflow between your head, helmet and googles. Having worn this helmet both in cold, snowy conditions in Mayrhofen and warm spring skiing in Serre Chevalier, my head was never too cold or too hot!

Safety features include Salomon’s patented EPD4D technology, which is similar to MIPS. This protects the brain from both oblique and vertical shocks.

The Salomon Icon LT Pro costs around £130 and is available in Moss, White and Black. The medium measures 56-59cm and I found the sizing to be an excellent fit.

The Salomon Icon LT Pro Women’s Helmet is, by far, the most comfortable snowboarding helmet I have owned. For your average piste skier or snowboarder, it totally lives up to expectation. You put it on your head and instantly feel comfortable and safe.
